What's New at Blocksi: Custom Hall Pass Locations, Azure AD Groups, and More

Palo Alto, CA, October 1, 2026 โ€” Over the last few weeks, we’ve shipped several updates across Blocksi โ€” including a major Hall Pass feature, broader support for how districts manage student identity, and smaller improvements across alerts, Hall Pass logs, and Student Safety. Here’s a look at what’s new.

Hall Pass now supports custom locations

Until now, students choosing a hall pass location picked from six predefined options, the same list for every school. Admins can now build their own list of locations from Hall Pass โ†’ Settings, and decide which organizational units (OUs) see each one, so a school can offer floor-specific bathrooms, a nurse available only in one building, or locations that make sense for high schoolers but not third graders. The six predefined locations aren’t going anywhere either; admins can rename, rescope, or delete them the same way as any location they add themselves.

Blocksi Hall Pass now supports custom locations

Each location can also be set to extend into the next class, useful for a stop, like a nurse visit, that might run longer than the time left in the current class. Students only ever see the locations available to their own OU.

Broader support for how your district manages identity

Two updates this cycle make it easier to bring Blocksi into how a district is already set up. Student OU Restriction now supports Azure AD Groups alongside Google Workspace organizational units, so admins using Azure AD can restrict teachers to their expected student groups based on their existing group hierarchy. And LDAP accounts are now supported on the Teacher Dashboard: they can be searched, added to classes, and used with class features the same way Google or Microsoft accounts already are.

Set alert schedule exceptions once, apply them everywhere

Admins and delegates can now select a date range when creating Alert Schedule Exceptions, instead of setting one day at a time, making it easier to pause alerts for an extended stretch like a school break. Admins can also share a single Alert Schedule across multiple alert profiles, so a district only needs to configure holidays and breaks once rather than updating every profile separately.

More visibility in Hall Pass

Teachers can now view comments left on a hall pass while it’s still active, and in the hall pass logs afterward. When an admin or delegate creates a pass on a student’s behalf, teachers can also see who created or approved it. Alongside this, Hall Pass history logs in the Teacher Dashboard have been reworked to show full-day logs with new filters, matching the view admins and delegates already have.

Teachers' Hall Pass logs view now matches the admins' and delegates' insights.

Student Safety: more context when reviewing flagged issues

Admins can now add phone extensions to Alert Contacts, for phone systems that route through a main number with direct extensions. Missed and other call history has also been added to AI-flagged issues on the Admin and Delegate dashboards, giving admins and delegates more context when investigating a potential concern.

These updates are part of our ongoing effort to ship improvements that matter in practice โ€” across every role that relies on Blocksi to keep schools running smoothly.
