Manifest V3 Is Here: Blocksi’s Extension Rollout Begins May 30th

We’re excited to announce the general availability of the Blocksi Chrome Extension built on Manifest V3 (MV3) for both Chrome OS and Windows OS, starting May 30th, 2025.

This transition to MV3 aligns with Google’s latest extension platform, bringing improvements in performance, privacy, and security. To ensure districts experience a smooth and flexible upgrade, we’re rolling out this migration in two key phases:

Phase 1: MV3 Extension Ready for District Rollout

MV3 version of the Blocksi Extension will be available under a distinct extension ID: fkjcbliclcccmfiaconfoiillmgnopoh. During this transition period, the current MV2 extension will remain fully active, allowing districts to adopt MV3 at their own pace. This setup ensures a smooth migration experience, allowing admins to deploy, validate, and transition with minimal disruption before the final switchover on June 15th, 2025.

Phase 2: Blocksi Moves to One Extension ID for Full MV3 Deployment

Starting June 15, the Blocksi Extension built on MV3 will officially replace MV2 using the standard extension ID: ghlpmldmjjhmdgmneoaibbegkjjbonbk

At that point, the MV3 version (ID: fkjcbliclcccmfiaconfoiillmgnopoh) will no longer be supported, and all updates will be delivered through the regular extension ID (ID: ghlpmldmjjhmdgmneoaibbegkjjbonbk).

What This Manifest V3 Migration Means for Your District

This phased rollout offers districts the flexibility to transition to Manifest V3 at their own pace. Whether you choose to adopt early or wait for Blocksi’s automatic update, here’s what to expect and how it will affect your environment:

  • Starting May 30: Districts ready to begin the transition can add the MV3 extension to their Admin Console using this ID: fkjcbliclcccmfiaconfoiillmgnopoh. You can find this ID on your Blocksi Sys Admin Dashboard under the MV3 Extension button at the top.

  • Both MV2 and MV3 extensions will run in parallel until June 15, giving you the flexibility to migrate at your own pace while testing MV3 functionality

  • On June 15: The distinct Blocksi MV3 extension with ID fkjcbliclcccmfiaconfoiillmgnopoh will no longer be available. Only the MV3 extension ID under the regular Blocksi enterprise ID ghlpmldmjjhmdgmneoaibbegkjjbonbk will be available.

  • If your district doesn’t plan to make the switch manually by June 15 or adjust anything on your end, Blocksi will automatically deploy the new extension—no action required.
